I have been asked about the Fairy pictures I have posted: always qualifying that they are the work of Brian Froud, et. al. I thought I had first encountered the fairy art of Froud in Sedona, Az., in 2006. It was this picture of the Fairy Godmother that I purchased as a birthday card. Yet, after more research I realized that Froud’s art seemed familiar. The reason being: he collaborated with Jim Henson on the film Labyrinth, and he was the film’s concept designer. Froud’s artistic influences are there in the film for all to see. Check out the Youtube of him when he was younger and working on Labyrinth below.

In the following Youtube interviews Froud explains how he came to draw fairies. Brian says, “You see fairies through the heart.” When asked; Are there real fairies? He answered, “Of course there is!” He says he can’t prove fairies exist, he can only show a glimspe into his beliefs.

According to Froud, “. . . there are spiritual beings that people have been living with forever.” He notes that fairies are located within a realm, and are interconnected with nature and they exude their energies constantly. Their energies traverse and flow from one dimension to another dimension. Fairies live inbetween states, as Froud notes, “similar to waking and dream states.”
